A Lasting Power of Attorney is an important document that allows you to appoint one or more people, known as attorney(s), to make decisions on your behalf.
There are two types of Lasting Power or Attorney:
Property and Financial Affairs. This Lasting Power of Attorney enables your attorney(s) to amongst other things, pay bills, collect benefits and sell your home and assets. This type of Lasting Power of Attorney can be used as soon as it is registered, with your permission.
Health and Welfare. This Lasting Power of Attorney enables your attorney(s) to amongst other things, make decisions about your daily routine (e.g. what you eat and what you wear), medical care, moving into a care home and life-sustaining treatment. This type of Lasting Power of Attorney can only be used once a medical professional confirms that you are no longer able to make your own decisions.
If you do not already have a Lasting Power of Attorney in place we can assist you with this and our fees for this service start at £350 plus VAT, plus the Office of Public Guardian registration fee of £82.
